I was born and raised in the Chicago area, and grew up spinning my worn-out globe and dreaming of all the places I might someday go when I grew up. Since then, I've been fortunate enough to explore many corners of this great planet and attempt to capture its beauty with my camera. During my journeys, I challenge myself to find the light and perspective that others may not see. I seek the play between light and shadow, complementary colors, and the tension between stillness and motion. The images reveal a sense of serenity to the viewer in spite of that tension. While the camera and lenses are my tools, light is my palette. I love how it can push its way through fog to reveal curtains of mist. It can wrap itself around a flower, exposing delicate veins in the petals. It can filter through a cloud to soften a landscape, or it can glance through tree branches to reveal graphic patterns in the snow. I love the way backlight creates a halo around a subject and gives an evocative, dream-like quality to an image.
